Motorcycle-riding criminals fall

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City------ Two motorcycle riding suspects involved in the shooting incident were arrested at a checkpoint of Bayugan City Police Station in Brgy. Taglatawan, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur around 10:00PM Sunday (July 8).

Suspects were identified as Jovani Sunjay, 25; and his brother Ar Sunjay, 19, both residents of Brgy. Tandang Sora, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur.

Siblings were heading home from Bayugan City riding on their hired motorcycle driven by Jessie Bolambot, 39, of Brgy. Sta. Teresita, Bayugan City.

Upon reaching Brgy. Guadalupe, municipality of Esperanza, around 6:00PM, the suspects ordered the driver to stop and shot him using homemade weapon known as sumpak.

Victim sustained gunshot wounds in his head and right elbow and was rushed to the Provincial hospital of Agusan del Sur.

The perpetrators, who took the victim’s motorcycle, were apprehended by Bayugan City Police after the coordination made by Esperanza Municipal Police Station.

Arrested persons will be charged with frustrated murder. They were turned over to Esperanza Police.

PNP Caraga awards cop for winning 1st PNP Wide Taekwondo Championship

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City------ During the flag raising ceremony here early morning Monday (July 9), PNP Caraga Director Chief Supt Noli Romana spearheaded the giving of award to PO2 Edgar Pantohan who won the 1st PNP Wide Taekwondo Championship Competition.

Pantohan, assigned to Butuan City Police Office, received the ‘Medalya ng Kasanayan’ for being the champion of the taekwondo tournament held on June 28, 2018 at the PNP National Headquarters, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City.

The region’s police chief also awarded the ‘Medalya ng Papuri’ to PO2 Alfred Yagono, PO2 Mary Ditte Jabagaton, PO1 Junadove Casil, PO1 Gary Jones Pradas, PO1 Karen Tuto, PO1 Aldrin Pascua, and PO1 Junrey Robles for representing the PNP Caraga in the tournament.

“We congratulate our personnel for bringing honor and pride not only to PNP Caraga but to the Caraganons in general,” RD Romana said.

Meanwhile, the PNP taekwondo champion has expressed his gratitude to the Almighty God and to everyone who has been part of his success.

PNP Caraga replaces cop’s burned motorcycle

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City------ After the NPA terrorists burned his motorcycle two weeks ago, PNP Caraga has given a brand new motorcycle to PO1 Keith Lloyd Delos Reyes after the ceremonial flag raising here Monday (July 9).

PNP Caraga director Chief Supt Noli Romana led the blessing and turn-over of Yamaha Mio motorcycle to Delos Reyes who is assigned to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 13.

The cop’s motorcycle was one of the five motorcycles torched by the NPA members in Sitio Kauswagan, Brgy. San Mateo, Butuan City on June 25, 2018.

The burning incident occurred when the government troops who were stationed in the area for Community Service Patrolling left to attend a seminar.

“This is one way of recognizing the efforts of our PNP personnel on the ground. After losing his motorcycle to the NPA atrocities, we initiate to replace it with a new one,” RD Romana said.

Caraga chief to focus on lowering traffic accident

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City… Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 director Chief Supt NOLI A ROMANA swore to bring down physical injuries attributed to traffic incidents and help in finding a solution to the traffic problems in Caraga region.
ROMANA disclosed that the crime rate in Caraga region rise to 17% from January 1 to June, 2018 compared with the same period in 2017 due to Non-Index Crime that increased from 581 in 2017 to 750 in 2018 respectively.
“Traffic incident in our region is not only the concern of the police but it concerns other agencies. So, we will be coordinating with them,” Caraga’s top cop said.
Data also showed that a total of 4,612 crimes were reported in 2018, higher than 3, 932 crime volume listed in 2017.
However, 3,968 or 80% of crimes were solved in 2018 among the 4,612 crimes compared with only 1,938 or 47% cases in 2017, ROMANA refers to the record from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD),
Crimes related to Murder, Homicide, Rape, Robbery and Theft posted a significant slide to 5.98% with only 942 totaled crimes in 2018 compared with 971 crimes in 2017.
ROMANA noted that the downtrend of index crimes was the result of combined efforts of the PNP, other law enforcement agencies, Local Government Units, and the community.
“We’ll give our best to be able to help in the traffic problems and I am also appealing on the people in Caraga to continue working with our cops and partner agencies to sustain these substantial gains in bringing down crime incidents in the region,” Romana added.
