Over 1,600 PNP personnel get promotion

Camp Col Rafael Rodriguez, Butuan City----- A total of 1,610 PNP personnel in Caraga was promoted to the next higher rank during the simultaneous mass oath-taking and donning of rank insignia held at the headquarters of Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 Monday morning, March 25.

1,524 police non-commissioned officers and 22 commissioned officers took their oath under the regular promotion program while 64 cops were promoted to police inspectors via the PNP Lateral Entry Program for Line Officers.

Senior Supt Jimili L Macaraeg, deputy regional director for operations, represented the Regional Director and spearheaded the ceremony which was attended by the families, friends, and relatives of the promotees.

Promoted were two new Police Superintendents; three Police Chief Inspectors; five Police Senior Inspectors; 76 Police Inspectors (regular promotion program and lateral entry); 10 SPO4; 102 SPO3; 38 SPO2; 129 SPO1; 693 PO3; and 552 PO2.

As the third man in the PRO13 hierarchy, DRDO Macaraeg urged the newly promoted uniformed personnel to remain steadfast in the conduct of focused police operations on the ground and to prove that they are worthy of their new ranks.

Meanwhile, Chief Supt Gilberto DC Cruz, PRO13 director stressed out that under his watch, all police officers are going to keep that level of service going and try to find ways to improve on it.

“I always expect our uniformed men and women to serve with integrity and to uphold the rule of law. I have great confidence in the experience and abilities that each of you possess,” the region’s top cop added.

Mayor, Sangguniang Bayan member arrested for gun charges

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City --- Authorities arrested the Mayor of Tubajon town and Sangguniang Bayan member of Basilisa, Dinagat Islands today, March 23.

Personnel of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Surigao Del Norte Field Unit, CIDG Agusan Del Norte Field Unit, Surigao Del Norte Maritime Group, PNP SAF, Provincial Intelligence Branch of Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office, Tubajon and Basilisa Municipal Police Stations arrested Mayor Romeo Constantino L Vargas in his residence in Purok 1, Brgy. Santa Cruz, Tubajon and SB Norlito Ticod in Brgy. Puerto Princesa, Basilisa, Dinagat Islands based on the search warrants issued by Acting Presiding Judge Hon. Shineta Tare Palacio, Branch 32, 10th Judicial Region, Surigao City dated March 15, 2019.

Operatives recovered from mayor’s possession were M16 Rifle with scope and bipod; magazine for M16; ammunition; Caliber .22 magnum, and Air Gun Convertible. While recovered from SB Ticod were Caliber .45 Pistol Colt, magazine for Caliber .45 pistol; ammunition; empty shells for caliber 38 revolver and black holster for caliber .45.

Chief Supt Gilberto DC Cruz, Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 Director said that Mayor Vargas and SB Norlito Ticod will be facing charges on RA No. 10591 (An Act Providing for a Comprehensive Law on Firearms and ammunition and providing penalties for violations).

Arrested persons and confiscated items are placed under the custody of CIDG, Surigao del Norte.

‘’These accomplishments serve as stern warning to all firearm holders including those politicians in Caraga that we are dead serious in conducting intensified drive against loose firearms. Delinquent firearm owners will be subjected to police operations like the implementation of search warrant should they fail to surrender their loose firearms. Anyone, regardless of status, will face the full wrath of the law’’, RD Cruz added.

Blessing, turn-over of new police stations held in Dinagat Islands

Camp Col Rafael C Rodriguez, Butuan City --- The newly constructed police stations in the towns of Dinagat and Loreto, Dinagat Islands were formally turned over to the PNP personnel in a simple ceremony yesterday, March 21.
Senior Supt Rolando Portera, chief of the Regional Logistics Research and Development Division attended the blessing and turn-over of the type B/C police station buildings with Senior Supt Daniel Peusca, provincial director of Dinagat Islands Police Provincial Office and Supt Joseph Estrada, chief of the Regional Project Management Unit 13.
The ribbon cutting and unveiling of marker of Loreto Municipal Police Station was held around 8:00AM in the presence of Honorable Mayor Erwin San Juan, and barangay and municipal officials.
In Dinagat Municipal Police Station, Honorable Mayor Craig Ecleo and Vice Mayor Petnel Sombrado also attended the activity which started at 1:00PM.
The local chief executives were grateful to the national government for providing funds needed for the construction of the new police station buildings.
On the other hand, Chief Supt Gilberto Cruz, Police Regional Office 13 director, thanked the municipal officials for their untiring support to the local police and urged the PNP personnel to intensify focused police operations.
